Good Riddens Caroline Kennedy

January 21, 2009

The news broke just now: Caroline Kennedy has told Gov. Paterson to withdraw her name from consideration for Hillary Clinton’s NY seat in the US Senate.

It is time to get rid of this woman. She is not qualified to be a U.S. Senator. She comes from a very important family, but she does not deserve to be given this position without having to prove herself. If she wants to be Senator, and people believe in her, then let her run during an election, and be vetted by the public.

Polls have been showing that Andrew Cuomo, the New York State Attorney General, is the preferred choice of the citizens of New York.

I don’t care if she says it’s because of her sick uncle (may he recover speedily), as long as she pulls herself out of the running. This state deserves more.

US Airways Plane Crashes into Hudson River

January 15, 2009

plane-in-hudson

A US Airways plane has just made an emergency crash landing in the Hudson River. Apparently the Airbus 320 flew through a flock of birds, had engine problems, and caused the pilot to try to return to La Guardia airport. They were not able to make it back to the airport, and they landed in the Hudson River.

There are no reports of injuries as of now, but it only happened a few minutes ago. I’m at 34th and Lexington, and I have heard a lot of sirens over the last ten minutes.

For years I have been wondering about the part of the pre-flight safety presentation about the water landings. I never believed that a plane could crash into the water, and people could survive. I guess I have been proven wrong.

Always pay attention to the safety movie!

Update: It appears that all passengers and crew have been safely removed.

Update: The sirens in Midtown Manhattan are not stopping. There is a lot of activity in NYC right now due to the place crash.
